Join us at GTEC for an evening to discuss energy transition! Here’s a message from the organizer, Andreas:
I am very happy to announce our next meet-up on April, 10th at 7 pm at GTEC. Our guest will be Boris Schucht, CEO of the Transmission Grid Operator 50 Hertz, at gtec. The title of his speech is “70 percent RES in 2025 – challenges and opportunities”.
Boris Schucht joined 50Hertz Transmission as Chairman of the Management Board in February 2010. 50Hertz is the north-eastern Transmission System Operator for Hamburg, Berlin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen, Brandenburg and part of Schleswig-Holstein (1/3 of Germany). 50Hertz is owned by Elia (the Belgian TSO 60%) and IFM Investors (Australian infrastructure fund 40%) in a joint control agreement, meaning that 50Hertz is part of the Elia Group – but having two shareholders.
As CEO of 50Hertz, Schucht is committed to a sustainable energy transition by maintaining a high level on security of supply while integrating large amounts of volatile renewable energies (like wind and photovoltaics), by facilitating the development of the European power market and by extending the transmission grid if necessary. The reliable integration of wind and photovoltaics is in fact one of the biggest challenges for the company – as their share in the 50Hertz control area amounted already up to 48% in 2016, steadily increasing.
Previously, Schucht was member of the Management Board of WEMAG. Prior to this, he was authorized officer of Vattenfall Europe in different positions.
He is a member of the Assembly of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).
Please feel free to register and spread the word!
I look forward to seeing you.
